Two Miami Gardens churches are asking for zoning changes to accommodate new construction on their properties.

Antioch Missionary Baptist Church and Harvest Fire Worship Center have requested rezonings from residential to neighborhood commercial, the Miami Herald reported. The City Council is expected to vote on the applications during next Wednesday’s meeting. Antioch is located at 21311 Northwest 34th Avenue, while Harvest Fire is at 18291 Northwest 23rd Avenue.

The churches want to add new parking lots and buildings at their properties. The city recommended the zoning change so the churches would comply with land-development regulations adopted four years ago.

Some residents near Harvest Fire have complained that the property values of their homes could decline if the rezoning is approved. [Miami Herald]Eric Kalis
