The developers of Miami Worldcenter have asked the state to approve a Community Development District on 25 acres at the project site north of downtown Miami.

City of Miami and Miami-Dade County commissioners have received requests to adopt resolutions supporting the Worldcenter team’s application for the district, ExMiami reported. The developers would control the district and would have the ability to issue municipal bonds to help fund infrastructure construction within the site.

The former home of the Miami Arena is not part of the proposed district.

Worldcenter got a boost last year when major retailers Bloomingdale’s and Macy’s signed leases to anchor the mixed-use development. [ExMiami]Eric Kalis
