Increasingly design-driven South Florida has moved beyond pipe dreams and planning, and will soon have its own architecture and design center, Curbed reported.
A former U.S. Post Office will be converted into the Miami Center for Architecture and Design, or MCAD. Designed by Allan Shulman, the building’s construction is underway, according to Curbed.
The center’s aims are to “promote awareness, understanding and appreciation of the ways in which architecture and urban design influence the built environment and enhance the quality of life in the community,” according to its web site, which features additional photos of the building’s redesign.
