West Palm Beach is hoping to create a financial district in the city’s downtown that would attract both smaller firms and major Wall Street players to open offices in the area.

Mayor Jeri Muoio revealed plans for the Flagler Financial District during her annual “State of the City” address on Tuesday, the Palm Beach Post reported. Muoio cited a need to generate attention for the portion of the city’s downtown that is already populated by financial institutions.

The proposed district spans from Sixth Street to the north to Okeechobee Boulevard and from Rosemary Avenue east to Flagler Drive. It would be adorned with customized logos, street signs, banners and other markers.

A potential next step could be securing financial incentives for the district, according to Muoio. [Palm Beach Post]Eric Kalis
