Rendering of NSU Center for Collaborative Research
Nova Southeastern University has begun building an $80 million research center on its main Davie campus.
The university hosted a groundbreaking ceremony Thursday for the 6-story facility, the Miami Herald reported. Plans include wet labs, a technology incubator and IBM supercomputer that has been dubbed “Megalodon.” The project is located on what is currently used as a parking lot.
Nova intends to have numerous scientists working out of the NSU Center for Collaborative Research when it is completed in 2016. The university, which is 50 years old, was recognized as a “high research” college by the Carnegie Foundation. Nova currently has about 26,000 students. [Miami Herald] — Eric Kalis
