A six-acre island formerly owned by Nick Hexum, frontman for alternative-rock band 311, is heading to auction at a starting bid of $3.5 million, the South Florida Business Journal reported.
Melody Key in the Florida Keys contains a 3,000-square-foot, solar-powered home with three bedrroms, wraparound balconies, a rooftop deck, floor-to-ceiling windows. Neither the house nor the adjacent guest house are hooked up to electric utilities. Hexum sold it in 2011, before the new owner had it heavily renovated.
The Fisher Auction Company auction is scheduled to run from Nov. 11 to 14. [South Florida Business Journal] — Mark Maurer
