Crescent Heights puts would-be Sobe Park site on market

500-alton

Former rendering of 500 Alton

New York-based developer Crescent Heights has put the brakes on its condominium project, which has been through many iterations.

It was previously referred to as 500 Alton, 600 Alton, Sobe Park and the Wave. The developer has put the unbuilt site at Alton Road and Fifth Street in South Beach up for sale, though construction appears to have already started, Curbed reported. The asking price was not disclosed. Crescent Heights commissioned a new design after residents complained about the possibility of too much light, traffic and the obstruction of views.

Local architects wrote a letter criticizing the proposed redesign by Stanley Saitowitz Natoma Architects, saying the “unrelenting upper floor design is monotonous and ‘very corporate.’” [Curbed]Mark Maurer
