Related’s plans for Watson Island include water taxis

Island Gardens, the three million-square-foot development Related Group plans for Watson Island, will be reachable by car or bike — or water taxi, exMiami reported.

Related’s more than $1 billion proposal to revive a long-stalled marina-focused development includes water taxis that will pick up from nine points around Miami and Miami Beach, exMiami said, citing draft plans that also include 2,000 parking spaces.

Jorge Pérez, who heads Related Group, told commissioners that he and his partners are already well on their way to investing 10 figures in Island Gardens, as The Real Deal previously reported.

Plans also include 60 slips at a 13.5-acre marina, 200 residences, 500 hotel keys and 50,000 square feet of leasable space.

Water taxis have been tried on Biscayne Bay in the past with little success, the site said. [exMiami] — Emily Schmall
