HUD awards Broward $895K for homeless veterans

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development awarded Broward County’s housing authority $895,000 to provide homeless military veterans and their families rental assistance, according to a release.

Vouchers will be paired with case management and clinical services provided by the U.S. Department of Veteran’s Affairs.

“The primary goal is to help move veterans and their families into a stable living situation,” Ann Deibert, chief executive of the Broward County Housing Authority, said in the release. “This will allow them to get the help they need and hopefully turn their lives around.”

The HUD-VASH program has found provided housing assistance to more than 40,000 veterans nationwide since 2008, the release said. –Emily Schmall
