Engineers are undergoing tests to determine the cause of basement column cracks in the Miami-Dade County Courthouse.

The county’s Internal Services Department hired an engineering firm to study the structural deterioration of the 73 West Flagler Street building over the next 45 days, Miami Today reported. Court personnel had discovered problematic signs, including water intrusion and incidental cracks.

Stress tests, which range from ultrasound, x-ray and remote visual inspections, are being conducted.
